Kings’ Gaudry and Kotyk off to college

May 15, 2012

Submitted by Dauphin Kings

Dauphin Kings are pleased to announce that pair of graduates has accepted scholarships: Brenden Kotyk to St. Scholastica Saints, while Tyler Gaudry is moving on to Castleton College.

Kotyk, who was captain of the Kings last year, was the MJHL’s Defenceman of the Year last season.

“We are very happy for Brenden,” said Kings’ GM/Head Coach Marlin Murray.  “He represented our hockey club very well on and off the ice.  His work ethic will allow him to be a very good player at the next level.  We hope he has all the success in the world on the ice and in the classroom.”

To date the Dauphin Kings have passed on five graduating players to the next level.  Mike Collins, Justin Remillard, Matt McAleenan, Calvin Cairns, Kotyk and Gaudry will take their skills to the next level.

“We take pride in moving our players on to the next level,” said Murray. “We have a few players left that want to move on and we are actively looking for the best spot for that individual to succeed.”

Gaudry to Castleton College

Gaudry, a native of Stonewall, was a member of the Kings’ Turnbull and ANAVET Cup champion squad.

“He’s a tremendous kid with good skill level and a very good teammate,” said Murray.  “He came to the arena every day with a purpose, never complained and always had a team first mentality.”

Murray said Gaudry is joining an excellent program.

“Good things happen to good people,” Murray said of Gaudry. “Tyler deserves this opportunity and will represent himself and the Dauphin Kings very well while taking the next step.  It’s a great program.  Former King, Lindsay Gullett was team captain there last season and speaks very high of his overall experiences at Castleton.”
