Corporate partners key to MJHL
December 10, 2012
2012-2013 is proving to be one of the most successful hockey seasons ever for the MJHL. With a new franchise in Virden, increased attendance – up 15% league-wide – and corporate sponsorship at an all time high, all indicators point to a bright future.
Over the past four years, the MJHL has focused on communicating the outstanding branding, advertising and community relations opportunities the league offers for corporate sponsors. The message has been well-received and corporate partnerships are growing as a result.
“The MJHL is proud to welcome our new corporate partners for the 2012-2013 season, Manitoba Lotteries Corporation, the Winnipeg Sun, Manitoba Dental Association, Recycle Everywhere, Molson Coors, Crescent Point Energy and the Sunrize Group,” said Kim Davis, MJHL Commissioner. “On behalf of our 11 member teams across Manitoba, thank you for your confidence in our league and your support for Junior ‘A’ hockey.”
The increase in league corporate sponsorship means much needed revenue for member teams and province-wide exposure for partners – a win-win for all. “The league and our member teams work hard to ensure all corporate partners receive a solid return on investment,” said Davis. “We do everything we can to maximize partnership benefits.”
Trevor Kennerd, the MJHL’s Director of Partnership Services, says the province-wide exposure MJHL partners receive is one of the main factors in sponsorship growth. “A number of corporate partners have commented on the broad Manitoba reach – combined with frequency of messaging – that sets the MJHL apart from other sponsorship options,” said Kennerd. “Not only is the product on the ice outstanding, but the fan engagement and support for our teams means the MJHL is the number one game in town in 10 of 11 communities.”
League marketing and promotion initiatives include the MJHL website, Facebook and Twitter accounts online; MJHL Live webcasts; MJHL Yearbook; MJHL Mobile which provides fans with live updates; and good media exposure thanks to the efforts of media relations coordinator Brian Smiley.
“Without our corporate partners, it would be impossible to deliver the high level of hockey action our fans expect,” added Davis. “These great corporations understand the significance and tradition the sport of hockey has in Manitoba, and the broad community benefits an MJHL team provides. Our players are role models for youth and there’s nothing quite like hockey to bring a community together.”
