2020 U.S. Player ID Camp announced

The Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) and The Hockey Academy at Ralph Engelstad Arena are proud to announce the 2020 MJHL U.S. Player Identification Camp in Grand Forks, North Dakota held April 3-5, 2020.

Representatives from the MJHL League office and all eleven MJHL franchises will be on site to scout and evaluate elite United States hockey players with birthdates in 2001, 2002, and 2003 that have the potential to play junior hockey.

“The 2020 MJHL Identification Camp, being held at the impressive Ralph Engelstad Arena, will once again provide the next generation of American MJHL Players with the knowledge and resources to be successful both on and off the ice, an insight into what playing in the MJHL is all about and most importantly, the platform to showcase themselves to coaches and scouts from all 11 MJHL organizations.”- Kevin Saurette, MJHL Director of Operations

Saurette continues, “this event continues to grow in stature both on and off the ice and will feature 102 athletes spread out over 6 teams.  Numerous players who have participated in the previous two camps have been protected by teams in the MJHL, have attended MJHL training camps and/or are playing in the MJHL this season.  It goes without saying that we are very excited at the talent level of the Prospects that will be invited to this years Camp.”

The on-ice program will consist of on-ice testing and competitive game sessions.  The off-ice portion will involve development seminars related to athleticism and mental skills, the benefits of playing in the MJHL as well as identifying what is required to be a successful junior hockey player, on and off the ice.

The camp will open Friday evening, April 3rd, with a MJHL Information Seminar and on-ice testing utilizing the SportTesting Inc. technology platform. Testing results will be made available to all the athletes so they can comparably see where they stand and to allow for further player development benefits. The players will also participate in three full game sessions scouted by MJHL coaches and scouts and an informative Hot Stove session where the athletes will hear valuable insights from MJHL Alumni and special guest speakers.
