Adam Vigfusson named RBC Community Award Recepient

WINNIPEG, MB – The Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) is pleased to announce Niverville Nighthawks forward, Adam Vigfusson, as the recipient of the 2025-26 RBC Community Award.

Earlier this season, the MJHL announced the 2025-26 RBC – MJHL Community Ambassador Team, comprised of one player from each MJHL team who displayed outstanding citizenship and sportsmanship both on and off the ice. RBC made a donation on behalf of each ambassador to a school in their local community.

At the conclusion of the 2025-26 season, Adam was selected as the recipient of the RBC Community Award which comes with a further donation from RBC in Adam’s name that will be directed to Niverville Elementary.

“I’m so honoured to receive this award. Feeling part of something bigger than hockey has been my favourite part about playing in Niverville,” Vigfusson shared after being named the RBC Community Award recipient.

“I think one of, if not the biggest takeaway from playing in the MJHL is giving back to the community. It’s important to build quality relationships with people in the community, not only for the teams benefit but for your own personal experience. Being involved in the community of Niverville has been so special and I’m proud to call it a second home. The people welcomed me with open arms and I now feel like I am a part of the community.”

Vigfusson went on to speak about a few of his favourite places to volunteer at in Niverville which included the Elementary School and visiting seniors at the Niverville Manor.

“I think for me, the school visits and the senior home visits will always be close to my heart. Building those relationships with kids who are so pumped to see you is always so special. On the flip side, going for coffee with the seniors in Niverville was always a great way to chat and talk about life. I’ve taken away many valuable life lessons over a cup of coffee and a donut or two with the seniors, it’s something I will cherish forever,” Vigfusson concluded.

“Adam has represented the MJHL, the Nighthawks, and the community of Niverville with tremendous class over the three seasons he spent in the league,” said MJHL Director of Marketing & Partnerships, Erik Swar. “His commitment to giving back along with his efforts to better his community do not go unnoticed and we are very proud to name Adam as the 2025-26 RBC Community Award winner. The MJHL congratulates Adam along with our 12 other ambassadors for their outstanding dedication to volunteerism in Manitoba.”
