Northern Manitoba Blizzard forward, Alexandre Andre, was recognized on Friday night as the Blizzard RBC Community Ambassador.
Andre has displayed outstanding citizenship and sportsmanship both on and off the ice and a commitment to volunteerism. RBC Community Ambassadors are recognized for making a difference and giving back to their communities where they play.
“Citizenship and sportsmanship are very important to me as a person and a player so I am humbled to be recognized in this way,” explained Andre. “I am grateful to RBC, the MJHL and the Blizzard organization for their commitment to supporting the northern Manitoba community.”
“The support for the Blizzard here is incredible so myself and my teammates take great pride in being able to positively impact the community. Growing up I have benefited so much from the hard work and generosity of volunteers and I am grateful to be able to take on that role now.”
Like Andre, each Ambassador is recognized at their RBC Game Night and will be honoured by a donation from RBC to a school in their local community. Andre will be making his donation to Ecole Opasquia School in The Pas.
“I have been very fortunate to spend quite a bit of time in the school. They have amazing staff, students and volunteers and I am thrilled that they will benefit from this,” Andre concluded.
At the conclusion of the regular season, one RBC – MJHL Community Ambassador will be named as the recipient of the RBC Community Award, which comes with a further donation from RBC in the player’s name to a school in their local community.
