Five players from the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) have been selected to play for Team Canada West at the Junior A World Challenge in Camrose, Alberta, from December 9-15.
Marlen Edwards (NMB), Reece Gault (STN), Jackson Kostiuk (STN), Avery Laliberte (NIV), and Dru Mushumanski (WAY) were named to the 22 man roster on Thursday afternoon in a release from Hockey Canada.
The tournament will feature a four-team format this year. Canada East, Canada West, Sweden and the United States will each play three preliminary-round games over the first four days of tournament action to determine seeding for the semifinals on Dec. 14, while the bronze medal and gold medal games are set for at 1 p.m. MT and 5 p.m. MT, respectively, on Dec. 15.
As previously announced, Northern Manitoba Blizzard Head Coach & General Manager, Eric Labrosse, was named an Assistant Coach for Canada West along with Niverville Nighthawks Trainer, Justin Giesbrecht, who will serve as the teams physiotherapist.
