Winkler Flyers leading scorer Matt Christian has committed to play for the University of St. Thomas next season. The graduating forward from Grand Forks, North Dakota was third in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League with 81 points last season and recorded 127 points (51 Goals – 76 Assists) in 118 regular season games played over his two years in Winkler.

“I can’t express how much I enjoyed my time in Winkler, the coaching staff, fans, the community, you name it is second to none. I’m excited to take what I learned, not only as a player but as a person to the next level in my hockey career,” said Christian.

The University of St. Thomas Tommies are based in St. Paul, Minnesota and play in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) in NCAA Div III Hockey. Former Flyers’ defenseman Steve Sorensen also played four years at St. Thomas after graduating from the Flyers after the 2011-2012 season.

The Flyers would like to congratulate Matt on his decision to continue his education and hockey career at St. Thomas.
