Flyers 4 Nighthawks 3 F/OT | Flyers lead best-of-seven series 3-2
Nicholas McKee scored 7:35 into double overtime on Saturday night to help lead the Winkler Flyers to a 4-3 win in game five, helping the Flyers take a 3-2 series lead.
The Flyers stormed out of the gate in the first period and took a 3-0 lead thanks to a pair of goals from Andrew Morton and a single from Charles-M Bernier. Despite getting outshot 13-6 in the second, the Nighthawks found their way back in the game with goals from Merik Boles, Parker Carrier, and Holdin Getzlaf.
A scoreless third period would send these two teams to overtime where the opening extra frame would solve nothing. It wasn’t until 7:35 of double overtime when Nicholas McKee found the back of the net, giving the Flyers a 4-3 win and a 3-2 series lead. Nighthawks goaltender, Austin Dubinsky, was outstanding again in Nighthawks crease, making 45 saves in the loss.

The Wolverines would make a push as Dylan Duzan would cut the deficit to one goal but that would be all as the Kings would hold on to win 3-2 in game and take the 4-1 series win to advance into round two.
The Kings can take some rest and await their second round opponent.
