Kings drop shootout thriller to Bombers

ESTEVAN, SK – Jacob Vockler scored in regulation and added the shootout winner to help the Flin Flon Bombers edge the Dauphin Kings, 2-1 in a shootout thriller.

Flin Flon opened the scoring in the first period when Jacob beat Carson Cherepak short side to give the Bombers a 1-0 lead. Dauphin responded in the second on the penalty kill as Logan Calder went hard to the net to score another marker to tie the game up.

After five minutes of 3-on-3 overtime solved nothing, a shootout would be required. Jaden Mercier and Nakodan Greyeyes exchanged goals before Jacob Vockler beat Cherepak. Bombers goatlender, Call Shell stopped Logan Calder to give the Bombers a 2-1 win.

Carson Cherepak shined in the Kings net once again, stopping 40/41 shots including a handful of saves during key moments of the game.

The Kings pick up a point in the loss, moving them in a first place tie in Group B with 7 points.

Dauphin is back on the ice Wednesday against the Soo Thunderbirds (NOJHL). A win against the Soo would advance Dauphin to the national semifinal which goes Saturday.
