Kings force game six with decisive win at home

DAUPHIN, MB – Kings goaltender, Cole Sheffield earned a 42-save shutout over the Northern Manitoba Blizzard in game five of the McMunn & Yates Turnbull Cup Final to help force a game six in The Pas on Tuesday night.

After the opening five minutes of the first, it was the Blizzard who were all over the Kings, winning nearly every puck battle and leading the shot clock, 16-5.

In the second period, it was the Kings who awoke and jumped on an opportunity at the mouth of the net when Cayden Glover jammed in a loose puck to give the Kings a 1-0 lead. The momentum carried into the latter half of the period for Dauphin as they outshot the Blizzard, 15-12.

In the opening minutes of the third, the Kings picked up where they left off in the second when Ethan Stewart chipped the puck in the top corner over the shoulder of Taye Timmerman to give the Kings a 2-0 lead.

Just four mintues later, Gabriel Bugeaud skated with the puck down the left wing before cutting across the net and putting the backhand shot over the glove of Timmerman to give the Kings a 3-0 lead.

The Kings would shut down the Blizzard the rest of the way and pick up a big win in game five to cut their series deficit to 3-2 in the best-of-seven Turnbull Cup Final.

Final shots on net ended 42-30 in favour of the Blizzard while they went 0/3 on the powerplay. Dauphin made the most of their powerplay opportunities, going 1 for 1.
