League adopts 1-minute promotional timeout during games

This coming season, MJHL fans will see at least one new change relating to the playing of a game. A 60-second promotional break will be implemented at the first, neutral zone stoppage of play after the 10-minute mark of each period.

“This new policy will be utilized on a trial basis for the upcoming season,” MJHL Commissioner Kim Davis explained. “This stoppage is meant to provide promotional messaging opportunities to team sponsor partners. The stoppage will also allow coaches to speak to their players, without using a timeout.”

This was one of several items passed at the league’s recent Annual General Meeting recently held in Neepawa. The Board of Governors approved the continuation of the balanced schedule format for the next two seasons (2015/16 and 2016/17).

“In the final year the Board will evaluate the merits of the balanced schedule format to determine whether it should become a permanent format,” said Davis.

In addition to the AGM, there was the regular Board of Governors meeting, a coaches meeting, a marketing meeting, the annual Schedule meeting and the 2015 MJHL Draft.
