MJHL Alumni Feature: Chastko, Lavoie & Bibeau

In the coming weeks, mjhlhockey.ca will feature several MJHL alumni who are thriving in the WHL, NCAA and USPORTS levels. This week, the spotlight continues to shine on MJHL Alumni in the WHL as we take a look at our next three players: Nolan Chastko, Max Lavoie, and Ethan Bibeau.

Nolan Chastko | Everett Silvertips
MJHL | Virden Oil Capitals (2022-24)
20-Years-Old | Forward

After a pair of seasons in Virden where Chastko posted 50 goals and 48 assists in 108 regular season games, the native of Brandon, Manitoba, made the jump to the WHL the following season where he continues to excel with the Everett Silvertips. During the 2023 postseason run in Virden, Chastko helped lead the Oil Capitals to the Turnbull Cup Final where he notched 11 goals and 10 assists in 18 games as a 16-year-old.

Through 108 regular season games in Everett, Chastko has scored 12 goals and 23 assists for the Silvertips. This season, Chastko stepped up and filled in on the blueline for 25 games before switching back up front. Photo Credit: Everett Silvertips

Max Lavoie | Brandon Wheat Kings
MJHL | Winkler Flyers (2024-25)
19-Years-Old | Defence
2025-26: 45GP | 3G | 4A | 7PTS
NCAA Commit: Princeton University

Lavoie spent just one season in Winkler with the Flyers but turned heads and developed quickly with his offensive upside and his ability to be difficult to play against as a rookie in the league. In 58 games last season, Lavoie scored 7 goals and 25 assists, adding 1 goal in 10 postseason games.

The 6-foot-4, 209-pound defender would turn heads again to start the 2025-26 season, earning a spot on the back end with the Brandon Wheat Kings where he has now committed to play NCAA Division for the Princeton Tigers next season. Photo Credit: Kai Brown

Ethan Bibeau | Seattle Thunderbirds
MJHL | Northern Manitoba Blizzard (2023-24)
19-Years-Old | Forward
2025-26: 24GP | 3G | 10A | 13PTS

Bibeau is another MJHL alumni who spent his 16-year-old season developing in his home province for the Blizzard. In 43 regular season games, Bibeau notched 7 goals and 12 assists before adding 2 goals and 6 assists in 14 playoff games.

The following season, Bibeau stepped into the lineup with the Prince Albert Raiders where he spent 80 career games over the next season and a half before he was acquired by the Seattle Thunderbirds. Since joining Seattle in late 2025, Bibeau has played 9 games for Thunderbirds where he has added 2 goals and 6 assists. Photo Credit: Brian Liesse
