MJHL approves new ownership of OCN Blizzard

WINNIPEG, MB – The Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) Board of Governors have approved new ownership of the OCN Blizzard.

The MJHL is announcing, effective immediately, the transfer of the team to a new ownership group of local residents, Rob and Bonnie White. The new owners are excited to get to work, supporting and investing in a great franchise with a long and celebrated history.

Players, fans, partners, The Pas, Opaskwayak, and the wider northern community can expect a group committed to ensure that MJHL Junior A Hockey continues to have a home in northern Manitoba.

The MJHL Board of Governors extend their heartfelt appreciation to previous owners, Mr. Usman Tahir and Mr. Salman Safdar for their commitment to the MJHL, the Blizzard organization, the surrounding region and young hockey players pursuing excellence in sport.

About The MJHL

The Manitoba Junior Hockey League is one of nine Junior ‘A’ Hockey Leagues in Canada and is a proud member of the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL). The MJHL exists to provide the best hockey development opportunities for players. The Mission Statement of the MJHL is “To provide each player with an elite hockey development experience with a strong emphasis on education and citizenship”. Currently, there are thirteen (13) member franchises in the MJHL.

Our goal is to develop players and ultimately have them develop into solid citizens who make a positive contribution to their community. Communities with a Junior ‘A’ hockey club generate their spirit in and around the community arena facilities. The goal of the MJHL is to provide its fans, communities and supporters with the best possible hockey product through dedication to improvement in all areas of the game both on and off the ice.
