MJHL continues partnership with HeadCheck Health

WINNIPEG, MB –The Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) is continuing a commitment to advancing player safety standards through a successful partnership with HEADCHECK Health, Inc. (HEADCHECK). The MJHL and HEADCHECK have been partners since the beginning of the 2018-19 regular season.

The MJHL’s concussion protocol establishes mandatory guidelines for recognizing, assessing, and managing concussion. HEADCHECK’s mobile and web-based app platform provides MJHL teams with advanced tools to follow that protocol. The net result of this collaboration is a safer environment for all players.

“Player safety is our number one priority, and our partnership with HEADCHECK Health has been a very positive step in improving concussion understanding, identification, assessment, and management throughout the MJHL,” shared MJHL Commissioner Kevin Saurette.

“We are pleased to be able to provide our trainers and medical professionals with the best tools and resources we can to help keep our players safe while playing the game they love.”

Team trainers can use HEADCHECK’s mobile app to document suspected concussions, perform concussion assessments and transfer the information collected to medical professionals and partner clinics. In addition, the platform enables a player’s concussion history to transfer with them from team to team or league to league for more informed care.

“The MJHL has been a great partner for us and shown a consistent commitment to advancing player safety,” said Harrison Brown, CEO of HEADCHECK. “We’re happy to see them add CrashCourse this year to enhance concussion education within the organization.”

This season, HEADCHECK will deliver the video-based interactive learning experience CrashCourse to each MJHL team. It was designed in collaboration with leading national subject matter experts and evaluated using rigorous qualitative and quantitative research methods across a number of studies. All research was conducted through Stanford University and formally approved by its Institutional Review Board.

All data collected through the HEADCHECK system is stored according to Canadian health privacy standards and will only be accessible by authorized individuals.
