WARMAN, SK – Two 2nd period goals from Team SJHL made the difference on Wednesday morning in Warman as Team MJHL fell 2-0 to their counterparts from Saskatchewan.
In the 1st period, both teams traded chances with Team MJHL getting a pair of opportunities on the man-advantage. Dru Mushumanski pinged the crossbar on the powerplay but that’s as close as they would get in the 1st. SJHL would lead the shot clock, 15-9 after the opening frame.
Despite having two more chances on the powerplay early in the 2nd, Team MJHL was unable to capitalize on their chances
12:57 into the 2nd period, Team SJHL took a 1-0 lead thanks to a shot off the stick of Dustin Renas. Jadon Iyogun would add to the SJHL’s lead with under a minute to play in the middle frame, carrying a 2-0 lead into the 3rd period.
Team MJHL would press in the 3rd and earn a powerplay opportunity, but just couldn’t solve SJHL netminder, Angelo Zol. The MJHL would pull Mitchell Kathler to get out the extra attacker but it was just too late.
