MJHL Power Rankings presented by BUNGE | Week 10

1 – Niverville Nighthawks (-)
This week: 2-0
Overall: 20-1
What more needs to be said about the dominant Nighthawks? No taking anything for granted, always ready to go, always on their toes. The respect level in the dressing room has no one wanting to let their teammates down, so they always bring their best. Some road trips will deepen the bonds for an already very connected group.
Player Spotlight: Hayden Wheddon – 3 goals, 2 assists in 2 games
Up Next: Nov. 27th @ Virden, Dec. 2nd @ Waywayseecappo

2 – Portage Terriers (+2)
This week: 3-0
Overall: 16-6-1
There’s a new level of confidence and swagger coming from a Terriers club that boasts some serious weapons all over the lineup. Anyone up and down the roster can be worth the price of a ticket on any night. Quick, accurate, tough, the Terriers are dialling in details now that will make them successful through April.
Player Spotlight: Drayden Uhrina – 2 goals, 1 assist in 3 games
Up Next: Nov. 26th vs WPG Blues, Nov. 29th @ Swan Valley, Dec. 3rd @ Neepawa

3 – Dauphin Kings (+4)
This week: 3-0
Overall: 15-6-1
Defending Credit Union Place has always been a staple for the Kings, and with a lengthy homestand upcoming, they’ll look to keep building on the things they’ve done to be successful of late, and have the crowd behind them. Finding more offense up and down the lineup will also keep them atop the MGEU West Division.
Player Spotlight: Joshua Schmidt – 1 goal, 4 assists in 3 games
Up Next: Nov. 29th vs Selkirk, Nov. 30th vs Winkler, Dec. 3rd vs Virden

4 – Steinbach Pistons (-1)
This week: 2-1
Overall: 17-5-1
Deadly from the backend, the defenders have done a lot to help boost the offense. Pairing that with the top guys producing and stellar goaltending, the Pistons are right around where they usually are. Still have another level to get to if they want to threaten for that very important top spot in the MJHL.
Player Spotlight: Easton Thvedt – 2-1, 82 saves on 88 shots, 1 shutout.
Up Next: Nov. 26th vs WPG Monarchs, Nov. 28th vs Waywayseecappo

5 – Winkler Flyers (+1)
This week: 2-0-1
Overall: 10-9-1-2
Continuing to build. It may be a slow build, but it’s apparent the giant that is the Flyers is starting to wake up. A mix of dangerous, quick-strike offense and stingy defense has Winkler in a good place nightly. The group has to find the line between playing on the edge and going over it. MJHL’s best power play and penalty kill.
Player Spotlight: Leif Ekblad – 1-0, 44 saves on 45 shots
Up Next: Nov. 28th @ Northern Manitoba, Nov. 29th @ Northern Manitoba, Nov. 30th @ Dauphin

6 – Virden Oil Capitals (-4)
This week: 0-1
Overall: 12-7
One step forward, one step back. Win a game, lose a game. It’s been an interesting month for Virden, but as the group looks ahead to a busy December, they have to be excited at the prospect of stringing not only wins together but consistent efforts that provide those results. Big test at home could be the game that launches them forward for a while.
Player Spotlight: Maddox Shindle – 1 goal in 1 game
Up Next: Nov. 27th vs Niverville, Nov. 29th vs WPG Monarchs, Dec. 2nd vs Selkirk, Dec. 3rd @ Dauphin

7 – Neepawa Titans (-2)
This week: 1-2
Overall: 9-11-0-1
Hard working, structured, and talented. The recent stretch of being shutout in two of three games is an outlier, not the norm. Even though it should be known, the Titan’s speed still catches opponents by surprise sometimes. It’s become clear that they are closer to the top of the division than to the teams chasing them.
Player Spotlight: Talen Wallis – 2 goals, 1 assist in 3 games
Up Next: Nov. 26th vs Swan Valley, Nov. 29th vs WPG Blues, Nov. 30th @ WPG Monarchs, Dec. 3rd vs Portage

8 – Winnipeg Blues (-)
This week: 1-1
Overall: 8-9-2
Have put themselves in the fight for that final playoff spot, but it will be an uphill battle, nothing the group isn’t used to. Count them out, and they will step up and bite teams. If they manage to put some wins together, the test will be sustaining that and not letting their foot off the pedal. December has a mix of tough but games where they need at least a point.
Player Spotlight: Carson White – 2 goals, 3 assists in 2 games
Up Next: Nov. 26th @ Portage, Nov. 28th @ Neepawa

9- Waywayseecappo Wolverines (+3)
This week: 1-1-0-1
Overall: 9-14-1-1
A team that has shown they can score, be dangerous on the power play, have the goaltending to be in every game, but can’t seem to string any positives together. On the plus side, they haven’t let any negative things get out of hand, either. A tougher group that has some of the top offensive talent in the league.

Player Spotlight: Ben Roulette – 2 goals, 2 assists in 3 games
Up Next: Nov. 28th @ Steinbach, Dec. 2nd vs Niverville

10- Winnipeg Monarchs (-)
This week: 0-1
Overall: 4-19
Still building that identity, but it is slowly coming along. They keep games close, their goalie gives them a chance to battle, and they earn a lot of opportunities. The question will be if they can find enough scoring to get over the hump, but they’ve proven they will not let teams push them around. Taking steps in the right direction every game.
Player Spotlight: Thomas Gale – 2 goals in 1 game.
Up Next: Nov. 26th @ Steinbach, Nov. 29th @ Virden, Nov. 30th vs Neepawa

11 – Selkirk Steelers (-2)
This week: 0-2
Overall: 14-10-0-1
Pressure is starting to build from the teams chasing them in the MGEU East Division. The points they banked early in the year have eroded, and now they face the task of keeping one eye on the scoreboard. Not time to panic, yet. Still have scored the second most goals in the league, but the walk on the ledge may have started.
Player Spotlight: Owen Branson – 2 goals in 2 games
Up Next: Nov. 29th @ Dauphin, Dec. 2nd @ Virden

12 – Swan Valley Stampeders (-1)
This week: 0-2
Overall: 6-16-1
Did enough goal scoring to win, but worked against themselves by surrendering too many, especially late in the contest against a division rival. Still hanging around, but will look to make a bit of a push as the group moves into the final month of 2025 and looks ahead to a lighter December with possibilities.
Player Spotlight: Ethan MacTavish – 3 goals, 1 assist in 2 games
Up Next: Nov. 26th @ Neepawa, Nov. 29th vs Portage, Dec. 2nd @ Northern Manitoba

13 – Northern Manitoba Blizzard (-)
This week: 0-1
Overall: 3-15-1-1
Another tough stretch for the Blizzard, who, despite their record, have really bonded together. They’ll need to have each other’s backs this upcoming weekend as it could get chippy. Back-to-back games featuring the last two teams to hoist the Turnbull Cup should have fans up North eager to watch.
Player Spotlight: Kelton Kellerman – 1 goal, 1 assist in 1 game
Up next: Nov. 28th vs Winkler, Nov. 29th vs Winkler, Dec. 2nd vs Swan Valley
