1 – Steinbach Pistons (+2)
This week: 2-0
Overall: 8-0-1
Improving as a group with each passing game. Continue to find goals from everywhere across the lineup. Multiple defenders have been racking up the points. Strong goaltending has also been a staple for the Pistons throughout the season.
Player Spotlight: Ryan McDonald – 2 goals, 1 assist in 2 games
Up Next: Oct. 15th @ Portage, Oct. 18th vs Virden
2 – Portage Terriers (+2)

Racking up the goals and the penalty minutes recently. Went up north and got the job done. Multiple players chipping in offensively, while also getting the job done defensively.
Player Spotlight: Trevor Hill – 3 goals, 2 assists in 2 games
Up Next: Oct. 15th vs Steinbach, Oct. 18th @ Swan Valley, Oct. 19th vs WPG Blues
3 – Dauphin Kings (+3)
This week: 3-0
Overall: 6-1
Strong overall play continues for the Kings. They haven’t allowed more than one goal since the first game of the season. On top of that, they are riding at a 6-game winning streak where they are outscoring opponents 28-5.
Player Spotlight: Havryil Simchuk – 4 goals, 1 assist in 2 games
Up Next: Oct. 18th vs WPG Monarchs, Oct. 19th @ Winkler, Oct. 21st vs Northern Manitoba
4 – Selkirk Steelers (-2)
This week: 2-1
Overall: 10-1
Proving they are the real deal. More than just a dangerous power play, the Steelers are showing they can skate, compete and find ways to win close games. Backed by strong goaltending, the Steelers can let their skill try and overwhelm teams.
Player Spotlight: Jules Delepoulle – 2 goals in 3 games
Up Next: Oct. 18th @ Niverville, Oct. 21st vs WPG Blues
5 – Niverville Nighthawks (-4)
This week: 1-1
Overall: 6-1
All good teams learn lessons. Falling on home ice is both humbling and an opportunity for the group to respond. Structured, hard-working, and boasting a powerful roster up and down. A determined group will not stay down for long.
Player Spotlight: Hayden Wheddon – 2 goals, 1 assist in 2 games
Up Next: Oct. 15th vs WPG Monarchs, Oct. 18th vs Selkirk, Oct. 19th vs Neepawa
6 – Virden Oil Capitals (-)
This week: 2-1
Overall: 6-3
Another kind of so-so stretch for the Oil Caps. Always a team with consistent effort, the scoring at times has been harder to come by. When they do get contributions, mainly from their big guns, they tend to have success. Will look to find more from all over the roster going forward.
Player Spotlight: London Hoilett – 3 goals, 2 assists in 3 games
Up Next: Oct. 17th vs Winkler, Oct. 18th @ Steinbach
7 – Winnipeg Blues (+3)
This week: 2-0-1
Overall: 3-4-2
Win the games you’re supposed to win. Finding points by any means is important for a club that is quickly looking up at a group of teams trying to run away from them in the MGEU East standings. Hanging around is good, but finding ways to scratch out at least a point in games is better.
Player Spotlight: Matthew O’Sullivan – 3 goals, 2 assists in 3 games
Up Next: Oct. 19th @ Portage, Oct. 21st @ Selkirk
8 – Neepawa Titans (-1)
This week: 1-1
Overall: 3-6
Still looking to find that consistency on a game-by-game basis. The group knows they can score well at times, they know they can defend at times, but it’s putting both together that seems to be the issue. Still, no one is running away with the MEGU West, so there’s time to get it all on the same page.
Player Spotlight: Keenan Skrupa – 1 goal, 1 assist in 2 games
Up Next: Oct. 19th @ Niverville, Oct. 21st @ Winkler
9- Waywayseecappo Wolverines (-1)
This week: 1-2
Overall: 5-5
Picked up a big win against a divisional rival, but couldn’t follow it up. Still working on the balance of going for offense without sacrificing defense. Always hard working and dangerous, especially on the special teams. Finding more from those outside the top guys will be a big boost.
Player Spotlight: Kurt Rookes – 1 goal, 3 assists in 3 games
Up Next: Oct. 17th @ Northern Manitoba, Oct. 18th @ Northern Manitoba, Oct. 21 vs Swan Valley
10- Swan Valley Stampeders (+2)
This week: 1-1
Overall: 2-8
Gutsy overtime win will boost the spirits of a group that grinds out games. Good pieces across the roster, they look to find that next level while hanging around the MGEU West. They know as a group what they need to do to be successful, it’s now a matter of doing it consistently.
Player Spotlight: Ethan MacTavish – 1 goal, 1 assist in 2 games
Up Next: Oct. 17th vs WPG Monarchs, Oct. 18th vs Portage, Oct. 21st @ Waywayseecappo
11 – Winkler Flyers (-2)
This week: 0-2
Overall: 2-6-1
Tough times are starting to pile up for the Flyers. Losing a pair of games to a divisional rival, both in regulation stings. All is not dark, though. They’ve shown they have some offensive pop, and the team defense is taking strides, rounding out their game.
Player Spotlight: Kam Thomas – 1 goal, 1 assist in 2 games
Up Next: Oct. 17th @ Virden, Oct. 19th vs Dauphin, Oct. 21st vs Neepawa
12 – Northern Manitoba Blizzard (-1)
This week: 0-2
Overall: 0-5-1
Still in search of that elusive first win. Regardless of the scores in their recent games, the group has shown a willingness to fight for each other. Team bonding can help as the season goes along. The best news might be that they are one solid stretch away from a playoff spot.
Player Spotlight: Cutter Knight – 1 goal in 2 games
Up Next: Oct. 17th vs Waywayseecappo, Oct. 18th vs Waywayseecappo, Oct. 21st @ Dauphin
13 – Winnipeg Monarchs (-)
This week: 0-3
Overall: 1-11
Still struggling in all areas. A strong defensive structure can only hold the fort for so long. Goals are hard to come by, and shots tend to pile up against. The group is all heart and shows no signs of quitting. It’ll take time and some long nights, but there are positives slowly coming along.
Player Spotlight: Deegan Wapass – 2 assists in 2 games
Up next: Oct. 15th @ Niverville, Oct. 17th vs Swan Valley, Oct. 18th @ Dauphin
