WINNIPEG, MB – This season, the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) partnered with one of its long-time sponsors at the Manitoba Dental Association (MDA) to distribute oral health dental kits to students in Dauphin, Neepawa, Niverville, Portage, Steinbach, and Winkler.
The Manitoba Dental Association is the voice of the profession of dentistry in Manitoba. It is the legislated, self-governing body with the dual responsibilities of service to the public and oral health care providers.
“The MDA has been a long-time supporter of the MJHL and we thought this would be a great way for some of our teams to get into communities in Manitoba to help share the importance of oral health in partnership with the voice of dentistry in the province,” explained MJHL Director of Marketing & Partnerships, Erik Swar.
During the visits, players from the Kings, Titans, Nighthawks, Terriers, Pistons and Flyers, distributed over 300 oral health kits that consisted of toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss.
“We are incredibly proud to partner with the MJHL to put oral health kits into the hands of Manitoba’s youth,” says Dr. Rodrigo Sanches Cunha, President of the Manitoba Dental Association. “Seeing these athletes step off the ice and into the classroom as role models for healthy habits is inspiring.”
