#MJHLProspects Highlight: Cody Gudnason

The Neepawa Natives are excited to announce the commitment of 2003-born forward Cody Gudnason from the Southwest Cougars U18 AAA program.

Gudnason, currently stands in at 6’1 weighs 170 pounds and is the younger brother to current Natives forward Rylan Gudnason.

As an affiliate player with the Natives last season, Gudnason made his MJHL debut on January 20th, 2020 vs. the Virden Oil Capitals. Gudnason was drafted in 2018 by the Natives in the 6th round 60th overall.

Last season Gudnason produced a point per game scoring 21 goals and adding 27 assists in 48 regular season games. Gudnason also added 6 points in 6 playoff games before the playoffs were cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He is a player with offensive upside, Natives Head Coach/GM Ken Pearson is happy to welcome Cody to the Natives family. “We are very happy to be able to add Cody Gudnason to our roster. He plays a solid game and is always a thorn in the side of opponents. Having said that, he possesses an underrated ability to make plays under pressure, and we feel he has a lot of offensive potential.” Said the Natives Coach and GM.

When asked about committing to the Natives, Cody Gudnason spoke to his excitement about being able to join the organization his older brother is currently part of. “I’m really excited to join the Natives and continue my development next year and not only play for Kenny and Robby, but to be able to also play with my brother. Thank you to my coaches this past season and my family for all of their support,” said Gudnason.
