The Neepawa Natives are pleased to announce the hiring of Ryan Menei as the team’s assistant coach for the upcoming season.
Menei, a native of Winnipeg, has spent the last couple of years in Rosetown, Saskatchewan working and coaching in the community at various levels.
Menei started his junior career with the Selkirk Steelers of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League when he was 17-years-old then spent three successful seasons playing for the Saskatoon Blades in the WHL, appearing in 177 games whilst recoding 114 points (50+64) and also leading the team in the point’s charts in his final season. He went on to play 8 years of pro hockey with various teams including the Tulsa Oilers and Rapid City Rush of the CHL.
Ryan is married his wife Kyla and have two children, Mia, 6 and Mason, 2. They are extremely excited about joining the organization and community. “We are excited to call Neepawa our next home. I couldn’t be more grateful for this opportunity and it’s very apparent when I met with Myles and Dustin that this team is headed in the right direction and this organization has a bright future. I look forward to training camp and getting on the ice with the guys, it cannot come soon enough.” said Menei.
The Neepawa Natives and the community would like to welcome Ryan, Kyla, Mia and Mason to the hockey family. “Ryan has an extensive hockey background, has alot of character and knowledge of the game. He will compliment Coach Howden this season as a rapport has already been established.” said General Manager Myles Cathcart.
