SUMMERSIDE, PEI – Adam Vigfusson and Kole Mears scored twice to help the Niverville Nighthawks to a 7-2 win over the Thunder Bay North Stars (SIJHL) on Saturday afternoon in Summerside, PEI.
The Nighthawks stormed out of the gate in the 1st period and skated to a 4-1 lead thanks to goals from Adam Vigfusson, Parker Rolston, Dawson Zeller, and Kole Mears.
Hayden Wheddon, Adam Vigfusson, and Kole Mears added to the lead in the 3rd where the Nighthawks would skate away with a 7-2 win.
“We talk about it in the dressing room – there is no tiptoeing into hockey games. We say we need to get in the driver’s seat, take control of the game and make teams chase us. We got the first goal and they scored, but we responded quickly after that to make it a 2-1 game. It was good to see the response from our group and keep up with the forward progress.”

The Nighthawks will enjoy a pair of days off before going back-to-back against Canmore (AJHL) and Rockland (CCHL) to close out the preliminary round.
