Marlen Edwards (FWD/’06) – Northern Manitoba Blizzard – 2GP | 2G | 4A | 6PTS
The second-year forward kicked off his 2024-25 campaign with a big splash, netting a goal and two assists in back-to-back wins over the Blizzard’s MGEU West Division rival, Stampeders. After a strong push in the postseason last year, Edwards and the Blizzard look like they are poised to take another step this season. They’ll face a stiff test of 3 games in 3 nights this coming weekend when they square off with Portage before a back-to-back against Virden.

Raiden LeGall (G/’06) – Niverville Nighthawks – 2W | 0.50GAA | .985SV% | 1SO
It was right back to business for the Bemidji State University commit who turned aside 48 of 49 shots against in a pair of wins on opening weekend. After kicking off the season on home ice with a 4-1 win over the Freeze, Niverville hit the road to Waywayseecappo where they ousted the Wolverines, 6-0. LeGall and the Nighthawks return to action on Tuesday in Selkirk against their MGEU East Division rival.

Cole Sheffield (G/’04) Dauphin Kings – 2GP | 2W | 1.01GAA | .972SV% | 1SO
Another goalie who established himself amongst the league’s best last season picked up where he left off. Cole Sheffield opened the season with a 29 save shutout performance on the road in Virden before coming back the following night at home where he turned aside 40 of 42 shots in another win. Back-to-back wins against an MGEU West Division rival has to have the Kings feeling good heading into a new week with their sites set on Neepawa this Friday.
