Original 16 Stars of the Week | Week 11

Week 11, November 21 – 27, 2022  |  The Manitoba Junior Hockey League Stars of the Week are proudly presented by Original 16.

Hayden Lacquette (D/’03) – Portage Terriers – 3GP | 2G | 5A | 7PTS

It was another big week for the 19-year-old defender who sits tied for 7th in league scoring (7G – 21A – 28PTS) and first among all defensemen in the MJHL. Lacquette scored a goal and an assist in a loss against his former team before he added a goal and two assists in a 6-2 win over the Nighthawks. The Terriers closed out the week with a 4-1 win over the Blues where Lacquette chipped in with a pair of assists.

Hunter Tarves (G/’02) – Selkirk Steelers – 2GP | 0.97GAA | .971SV% | 2W

Tarves backstopped the Steelers to a pair of wins over the weekend that started out with stopping 37/38 shots in a 4-1 win over the MGEU West Division leading, OCN Blizzard. The following night, Tarves stopped 30/31 in a tight 2-1 overtime win over the Winkler Flyers. Selkirk now sits one point back of the Blues for 5th place in the MGEU East Division, thanks to the play of Tarves.

Trey Sauder (FWD/’03) – Swan Valley Stampeders  – 2GP | 2G | 4A | 6PTS

The second-year forward helped the Stamps’ earn back-to-back wins over the Virden Oil Capitals to bring Swan Valley within 2 points of a first place tie in the MGEU West Division. Sauder added three assists on home ice during a 4-3 win over the Oil Caps’ before he scored twice while adding a lone assist in the Stamps’ 6-2 road victory in Virden on Saturday. Sauder and his Stampeders have a big one coming up on Tuesday night when they travel to OCN to sqaure off with the Blizzard.
