Another week, another Selkirk Steelers rookie having success as Owen Branson helped the Steelers to a pair of wins over two MGEU East rivals. Branson scored the opener and added a pair of assists in a 7-6 win over Niverville before adding three assists in an overtime win over Winkler.

Parker Scherr (D/’04) – Portage Terriers – 2GP | 1G | 3A | 4PTS
The Terriers captain enjoyed a pair of multi-point outings in back-to-back wins over the Wolverines on the weekend. Scherr notched the game winner along with an assist at home before he added two more helpers on the road in Waywayseecappo.

Avery Laliberte (D/’06) – Niverville Nighthawks – 3GP | 3G | 2A | 5PTS
The Northern Michigan University committed defender scored three goals in as many games for the Nighthawks last week, adding a pair of assists in the process. The 18-year-old defenseman is up to 21 points in 26 games this season as the big blueliner continues to draw NHL interest as a player to watch on NHL Central Scouting’s watch list.
