The 17-year-old rookie was outstanding in back to back wins over the MGEU East Division leading, Steinbach Pistons. LaRocque turned aside 66/70 shots to help guide the Oil Capitals to four important points in the standings. Virden is now 5 points back of the 4th place OCN Blizzard for the fourth and final playoff spot in the division.

Brandon Funk (FWD/’05) – Winnipeg Blues – 3GP | 3G | 6A | 9PTS
Funk kicked off the week in style adding 2 goals and 4 assists in the Blues 8-2 win over the Steelers before scoring a single in the Blues loss to the Wolverines. The following night in the rematch, Funk added a pair of assists. Funk has scored 8 goals and 8 assists in 13 games since joining the Blues.

Boone Mathison (FWD/’02) – Waywayseecappo Wolverines – 2GP | 2G | 2A | 4PTS
The Wolverines veteran winger had an impactful weekend for his club, scoring a key shorthanded goal and assist in a 4-3 win against the Blues. Mathison followed up Friday’s performance with another goal and assist, this time notching the overtime winner to help the Wolverines to a 3 point lead in the MGEU West Division.
