Week 23, February 20 – 26, 2023  |  The Manitoba Junior Hockey League Stars of the Week are proudly presented by Original 16.

Jakob Jones (FWD/’03) – Swan Valley Stampeders – 3GP | 5G | 4A | 9PTS

A big week from the 19-year-old kicked off with a five point game against the Blizzard where Jones scored 3 goals and 2 assists in a key MGEU West Division win. Jones added 2 goals and an assist in a 6-5 loss to the Freeze before recording an assist during the Stamps’ 4-3 OT win over the Flyers. Jones is now in the top five of MJHL scoring with 28 goals and and 33 assists through 50 games.

Dominik Wasik (G/’02) – Steinbach Pistons – 3GP | 3W | 1.00GAA | .961SV% | 1SO

The Air Force Academy NCAA D1 commit enjoyed a strong week in the Pistons crease, turning aside 73/76 shots. Wasik helped the Pistons edge the Nighthawks 3-2 early in the week before he guided his club to a 2-1 win over the Wolverines on the road. To wrap up the week, Wasik earned a 29 save shutout in a 3-0 triumph over the Wolverines on Saturday night. Heading into week 24 of the season, Wasik leads the MJHL in shutouts (5) and wins (22).

Hayden Lacquette (D/’03) – Portage Terriers – 3GP | 5A | 5PTS

Adding to an already strong month of February, Lacquette continued to push the pace in the midst of the Terriers current 7-game win streak. Lacquette added a lone assist against the Steelers before chipping in with four assists over the next two games against the Titans. Lacquette now sits 2nd in scoring amongst defenseman in the MJHL with 14 goals and 36 assists throught 48 games.
