“The Virden Oil Capitals Board of Directors is extremely excited that we have reached an agreement on a contract extension with Tyson,” said Governor Bob Berry. “Tyson has successfully guided our organization over the past seven years. He has done a tremendous job both behind the bench and in handling all General Manager duties, ensuring our club continues to operate as one of the top franchises in the MJHL.”
Berry also emphasized Ramsey’s broader impact beyond the rink.
“Tyson’s impact on our program goes far beyond wins and losses,” Berry added. “He has built a culture of accountability, development, and professionalism that aligns perfectly with what we want the Virden Oil Capitals to represent in the MJHL. We are thrilled that Tyson, his wife Tracy, and their two daughters have chosen to remain part of our community for another four years.”
Ramsey expressed his appreciation for the organization and the Virden community.
“I’m incredibly grateful to the Oil Caps organization for trusting me to continue in my role as GM and Head Coach for the next 4 seasons,” said Ramsey. “Virden has become home for my family and me, and I am very proud of what we’ve built here together to this point. I am so appreciative of the support our hockey club receives from season ticket holders, business partners and fans and there is no other place I would rather be. This organization is extremely committed to putting together a competitive team every season and at the same time developing players on and off the ice, and within the community. I’m very excited to continue working with our hockey operations, office staff and players as we push toward our goal of winning MJHL championships.”
League-wide, Ramsey is known for his ability to develop players both on and off the ice. His commitment to growth and professionalism has helped advance numerous athletes to the next level, reinforcing the Oil Capitals’ reputation as a premier destination for junior hockey development in Manitoba.
