WINNIPEG, MB – Havryil Simchuk scored 3:46 into the first overtime period of game six while Cole Sheffield made 43 saves to give the Dauphin Kings a decisive 3-2 win, sending the Kings to the Turnbull Cup Final for the second time in the last four seasons.

It was Havryil Simchuk who would open the scoring in the first period when he scored in the opening minutes to give the Kings an early lead.

Portage would strike back quickly with goals from Rhett Platt and Tristan Gravenor coming 1:03 apart. Kings’ captain, Ethan Williment tied the game with just under eight minutes to play in what was an eventful first period.

Both the Terriers and Kings would kill off key powerplay opportunities in the second and third to send the game to overtime after each team had their share of chances.

Just 3:46 into the extra frame, Ethan Stewart and Gabriel Bugeaud connected on a quick transition up the ice when Bugeaud found a streaking Havryil Simchuk, who would slip it through the five-hole of Mitchell Kathler to send the Kings into the Turnbull Cup Final.

The Kings will meet a familiar opponent in the Final when they take on the Northern Manitoba Blizzard who swept the Winkler Flyers to earn their spot in the championship series.
