SELKIRK, MB – The Selkirk Steelers Hockey Club is proud to announce the addition of Corey Weir as
Communications Manager. We feel the addition of Weir to the Front Office will help us fill voids that currently exist within our social media / communications platforms. Corey adds an
element of experience and professionalism to our team as we continue to push forward in a positive direction.
“I’m really excited to be joining the Selkirk Steelers organization,” says Weir, Communications Manager for the Steelers Hockey Club. “Hockey has always been a huge passion of mine and
being able to join a team like the Steelers, in the beautiful city of Selkirk is something I very much look forward to.”
Weir joins us following stints working in various sports markets. Corey got his start in Toronto working as an Intern on TSN’s hit show Sportscenter. From there he moved back to Winnipeg to take on a role with Football Manitoba which led to a position with the Canadian Football League.
Shortly after his stay in Winnipeg, Weir got his start in hockey in Edmonton, when he took a position with the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League.
Joining the Steelers organization is something of a homecoming for Weir as he grew up “just down the street” in Lac du Bonnet. Weir’s family currently resides there, so he spends a lot of his free time out there.
We are very excited to have Weir join the team and feel that he brings a level of knowledge of the sport, social media, and communications that will help make us better organization.
