The Lakehead University hockey team is pleased to announce that forward Dexter Kuczek of Winnipeg, Manitoba has committed to the program.
Kuczek led the Manitoba Junior Hockey League in scoring last season with 37 goals and 55 assists for 92 points in 59 regular-season games with the Winnipeg Blues. In the post season, he added another 16 points in 12 playoff contests and was also named the league’s most valuable player. The year prior, he was Winnipeg’s top scorer with 30 goals and 37 assists to tally 67 points.
In Kuczek’s first three seasons in the MJHL, the 6’1”, 210-pound winger suited up for the Portage Terriers and Selkirk Steelers.
Wolves’ Head Coach Andrew Wilkins is happy to add a prolific scorer like Kuczek to the line-up. “I’m pleased to add a quality person like Dexter to our team. He brings a strong skill set with the ability to provide more offence to our team,” Wilkins said.
Kuczek, who will be enrolling in the General Arts program, is eager to attend Lakehead this fall. “I feel fortunate to be coming to Lakehead and to play for the Thunderwolves. I’m really looking forward to the start of next season.”
