Ulmer honoured at Oil Capitals RBC Game Night

Virden Oil Capitals forward, Tyson Ulmer, was recognized on Thursday night as the Oil Capitals RBC Community Ambassador.

Ulmer has displayed outstanding citizenship and sportsmanship both on and off the ice and a commitment to volunteerism. RBC Community Ambassadors are recognized for making a difference and giving back to their communities where they play.

“It’s an honour to be named the Oil Caps Community Ambassador,” Ulmer shared. “I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to be involved with community members here in Virden. It’s amazing how the community here supports our team and shows up at the rink every game day, so it’s incredibly important for us to give back to the community any chance we have. They are the reason we get to play the game we love.”

Like Ulmer, each Ambassador is recognized at their RBC Game Night and will be honoured by a donation from RBC to a school in their local community. Ulmer’s donation will be made to Goulter school in Virden.

“My favourite part about being in the community and giving back is seeing the smiles on people’s faces. Whether we’re playing intramural soccer at school or having a game of connect-4 at a senior home, the joy we experience makes everything we do in the community so worth it and so rewarding for everyone involved,” Ulmer concluded.

At the conclusion of the regular season, one RBC – MJHL Community Ambassador will be named as the recipient of the RBC Community Award, which comes with a further donation from RBC in the player’s name to a school in their local community.
