Blizzard fill out coaching staff

The OCN Blizzard have hired two more familiar faces to the organization. Greg Hunter will be returning to the club as an Assistant Coach and former player Tyler Grove will be returning as the Strength Coach and Trainer.

Hunter, the Cambridge Ontario native, has lived in The Pas the last 20 years and was an associate coach with the OCN Blizzard from 1996-2010, winning 5 MJHL Championships, 6 League Championships and 7 Division titles. In his years with OCN the Blizzard had a record of 449-137-47.

His playing career includes time with the Jr. “A” hockey club in Mississauga Ontario, and CIS with the Acadia Axemen. Following his playing career, Hunter spent time as the head coach of the Jr. B Kitchener Dutchmen from 1992-93, and also coached at the Athol Murray College of Notre Dame with the Midget AA/Jr. B teams from 1993-96.

Another former member of the OCN Blizzard organization is returning for the 2016-17 season. The Blizzard have hired former player Tyler Grove as the teams new Strength Coach and Trainer.

Grove spent time as the OCN Blizzard Assistant Captain and Captain during the 2012-2014 seasons. He also spent time with the Selkirk Steelers from 2010-2012. In 190 MJHL games, Grove scored 84 goals to go along with 89 assists for 173 points. Also finishing as the runner up for MJHL MVP his last season. Recently Grove spent the 2014-15 season with the Adelaide Adrenaline of the AIHL in Australia.

Back in Canada, Grove has completed and is now a Certified Canfit Pro PTS, Manitoba Fitness Council Resistance Training. He has worked as a personal trainer and has ran 1 on 1 training the last year.

Grove is looking forward to the 2016-17 season and returning to his former team.

Now the entire staff, HC/GM Doug Hedley, Assistant Coach Greg Hunter, Strength Coach/Trainer Tyler Grove are all returning players or coaches to the OCN Blizzard, and have previous ties to the organization.
