The MJHL final is shaping just as predicted: a heavyweight battle of two, very skilled hockey teams. Portage Terriers went up 2-1 in the best-of-seven series with an intense 3-2 win over Swan Valley Stampeders on Wednesday night.

Scott Mickoski led the Terriers with a pair of goals, while Jay Buchholz rounded out Portage’s scoring. Stamps received goals from Alexander Uryga and Dane Hirst.

Game 4 goes Saturday (April 13) in Swan River, while Game 5 is scheduled for Tuesday, April 16 in Portage.

This is the Stampeders first trip to the MJHL final in their franchise history. Terriers are looking to capture their fourth championship over the last five seasons.
