WINNIPEG, MB – Manitoba Junior Hockey League Commissioner Kevin Saurette is pleased to announce, effective today, Brian Munz has been named Manager of League Development.
Munz joins the MJHL with 30+ years of experience in sports management, broadcasting, marketing, and business development, where he will work with teams to help elevate operational standards across the league.
“We are very excited to welcome Brian to the MJHL,” shared Commissioner, Kevin Saurette. “With his vast experience in hockey at all levels, he will be an asset to the league office and member teams across the province moving forward. Brian will be responsible for helping ensure a high-quality, consistent experience for players, coaches and fans – along with helping support game presentations, broadcast standards and special MJHL league initiatives.”
Some of his duties will include:
- Working with teams to elevate operational hockey standards across the league.
- Help to ensure a high-quality, consistent experience for players, coaches, and fans in all arenas (both home and away).
- Support facility, game presentation, broadcast and service benchmarks.
- Provide guidance on individual team and league-wide broadcast standards and best practices.
- Strengthening grassroots connections to help drive attendance and long-term fan growth.
- Managing special projects for the MJHL.
“Growing up on the prairies, my heart as always been in junior hockey,” Munz explained. “I was fortunate to work my way from the BCHL and SJHL, to the WHL, AHL and NHL. As we all know hockey is about the people you meet and work with, I am excited to support Kevin and Erik in the league office and all the teams across the province to ensure the MJHL is a destination league.”
Brian’s first official game with the MJHL will be Friday night in Niverville when the Nighthawks raise the Centennial Cup Championship banner at home against the Winnipeg Monarchs at 7:30pm.
