Curtis Ireland named Farmery Scholarship Award winner

WINNIPEG, MB – Steinbach Pistons graduating defenseman, Curtis Ireland has been selected as the first ever recipient of the Farmery – MJHL Scholarship Award.

Ireland will receive a $1,200 cheque from Farmery that will go towards his schooling at the University of Manitoba where he will be working towards his Bachelor of Arts in Criminology. The MJHL graduate intends to use his degree to become a police officer.

“I am very honoured to receive this award from the MJHL and Farmery,” Ireland shared. “It shows that the MJHL is very committed to not only producing great hockey players but off the ice, the league strives for players to succeed in their education as well.”

Ireland spent 133 games in a Pistons uniform where he was named team Captain for the 2020-21 season. He was a part of the 2017-18 Pistons roster that won both the Turnbull & ANAVET Cup.

Farmery Brewery has shown a tremendous commitment to the province of Manitoba since their inception. Their vision to continue producing a local, home-grown product aligns well with the values of the MJHL.
