Ice plant problems forcing Flyers to re-locate

Winkler Flyers have been forced to find a new home ─ for five games in November.

Due to an unexpected failure of the ice plant at the Winkler Arena, all on-ice activities in the facility have had to be cancelled or rescheduled. That means the Flyers will have to pack up skates, shinpads and sticks and head off to neighbouring community Morden for the following home games:

November 9th vs Wayway 7:30 PM

November 16th vs Dauphin 8:00 PM

November 17th vs Dauphin 2:30 PM

November 20th vs Neepawa 8:00 PM

November 27th vs Portage 8:00 PM

According to Flyers’ GM Ken Pearson, the ice plant will be out of service for about four weeks. The cost of repairing the Arena’s ice plant will be around $125,000 to $135,000.
