How the MJHL Power Rankings work
The MJHL Power Rankings are designed to provide a data-driven snapshot of how all 13 teams are performing throughout the regular season. Each team’s ranking is calculated using a 100-point formula that considers both overall performance and recent results.
The formula includes Points Percentage (25%), Goal Differential per Game (10%), Goals For per Game (5%), Goals Against per Game (5%), Last 10 Games (15%), Last 5 Games (10%), Strength of Schedule (10%), Quality Wins (5%), Special Teams (5%), Home/Road Performance (5%) and Previous Ranking (5%).
The rankings are updated weekly throughout the regular season. Because the sample size is limited early in the season, recent-form categories are adjusted to prevent a small number of games from having an outsized impact. As the season progresses, the formula increasingly reflects a team’s full-season body of work.
The Power Rankings are not a prediction of the final standings. They are intended to provide an objective, consistent and transparent measurement of team performance based on results and statistical performance throughout the season. Rankings represent performance from the previous Tuesday through Tuesday.

1. STEINBACH PISTONS (-)
Last week: 2-0-0-0
Overall: 5-1-0-0
Next: @ Nighthawks, vs Kings
Still the most complete team statistically. Their strong points percentage, +14 goal differential, excellent goals-against number and continued winning week keep them at #1.
2. VIRDEN OIL CAPITALS (+1)
Last week: 2-0-0-0
Overall: 5-1-0-0
Next: vs Blues, @ Terriers
Probably the biggest case for moving to #1 eventually. They went 2-0 during the week, have one of the league’s best records and are producing offensively without giving up many goals.
3. WAYWAYSEECAPPO WOLVERINES (+4)
Last week: 3-0-0-0
Overall: 5-1-0-1
Next: vs Monarchs, vs Monarchs, @ Titans
This is the biggest jump. The Wolverines went 3-0 during the week and then shut out Swan Valley 3-0 Tuesday for their fourth straight win.
4. NIVERVILLE NIGHTHAWKS (+1)
Last week: 1-0-0-0
Overall: 3-1-0-0
Next: vs Blues, vs Pistons
The Nighthawks continue to have one of the best records and one of the league’s best defensive profiles. They’re still very difficult to move below the top four.
5. PORTAGE TERRIERS (+1)
Last week: 2-1-0-0
Overall: 4-2-1-0
Next: @ Stampeders, vs Oil Capitals
A strong week overall, although the 4-0 loss to Dauphin keeps them from moving higher. Their earlier OT win over Selkirk was also important.
6. NORTHERN MANITOBA BLIZZARD (+3)
Last week: 2-1-0-0
Overall: 5-4-0-0
Next: @ Steelers, @ Titans
The Blizzard’s recent results are much stronger than their overall record initially suggests. They picked up 6 of 8 points during the previous week, which is a major reason they move up.
7. SWAN VALLEY STAMPEDERS (-5)
Last week: 1-2-0-0
Overall: 4-3-0-0
Next: vs Terriers
This is the painful drop. The Stampeders beat Winnipeg 4-1 on Saturday, but the two losses to Waywayseecappo—including Tuesday’s 3-0 shutout—hurt them considerably.
8. DAUPHIN KINGS (+3)
Last week: 2-1-1-0
Overall: 3-3-2-0
Next: @ Titans, @ Pistons
The Kings are trending upward. They blanked Winnipeg 5-0 and then Portage 4-0, giving them consecutive shutouts before the overtime loss in Winkler.
9. SELKIRK STEELERS (-5)
Last week: 0-2-2-0
Overall: 3-2-3-0
Next: vs Blizzard, @ Flyers
This is where the formula starts separating recent performance from reputation. The Steelers’ overall profile remains respectable, but the 0-2-2 week pulls down the recent-form portion significantly.
10. WINKLER FLYERS (-)
Last week: 1-2-0-0
Overall: 3-4-0-0
Next: vs Flyers
The Flyers remain competitive but their overall record and goal differential don’t yet support a jump in the rankings.
11. NEEPAWA TITANS (+1)
Last week: 0-2-0-0
Overall: 1-5-1-0
Next: vs Kings, vs Blizzard, vs Wolverines
The Titans have dropped five in a row, and with their overall points percentage and goal differential, it remains major negatives.
12. WINNIPEG BLUES (-4)
Last week: 0-2-0-0
Overall: 2-3-0-0
Next: @ Oil Capitals
The Blues’ recent 0-2 week hurts in the last five game component on top of their negative goal differential.
13. WINNIPEG MONARCHS (-)
Last week: 1-1-0-0
Overall: 1-5-1-0
Next: @ Wolverines, @ Wolverines
The Monarchs’ first win of the season is encouraging, but the overall body of work still leaves them last. Their results over Northern Manitoba earlier in the week was a quality result, but not enough to overcome the other categories.
