1 – Niverville Nighthawks (-)
This week: 3-0
Overall: 17-1
Showing no signs of slowing down, the Nighthawks continue to evolve into one of the most complete teams not only in the MJHL, but in the CJHL. Strong in all aspects. A mature group that handles its business and has a growing belief that no matter what, they will find a way to win.
Player Spotlight: Austin Dubinsky – 3-0, 75 saves on 77 shots, 1 shutout
Up Next: Nov. 15th vs Northern Manitoba
2 – Portage Terriers (-)
This week: 3-0
Overall: 13-5-1
Starting to find their consistent game, the Terriers have shown they can pack an offensive punch, while also being stingy defensively. Led by a dynamic rookie, the group overall is growing together and looks poised to have more success as a lengthy homestand is about to get started.
Player Spotlight: Trevor Hill – 5 goals, 5 assists in 3 games
Up Next: Nov. 15th vs Virden, Nov. 19th vs Neepawa,
3 – Neepawa Titans (-)
This week: 2-1
Overall: 8-8-0-1
Solid work to respond after a loss. Keeping pace in a crowded MGEU West, the Titans have shown they know what they need to do to be successful, which is important because there can be huge swings in the standings thanks to how jammed it is.
Player Spotlight: Talen Lewis – 1 goal, 2 assists in 3 game.
Up Next: Nov. 14th vs Dauphin, Nov. 19th @ Portage
4 – Steinbach Pistons (+1)
This week: 2-1
Overall: 13-4-1
Continued to look strong following shaking off a three-game skid, but being held goalless in their last game could raise some concerns. Deadly offensively, as they lead the MJHL in goals with 80, and goal differential with a +33.
Player Spotlight: Evan Gradt – 2 goals, 3 assists in 3 games
Up Next: Nov. 14th vs Swan Valley, Nov. 15th @ WPG Monarchs
5 – Virden Oil Capitals (-1)
This week: 1-1
Overall: 10-6
Made a statement at home against a divisional opponent, then went out on the road and deserved a better result than what they got. Hard working, structured, speedy, and determined. The Oil Caps are rarely, if ever, the second hardest working team in a game.
Player Spotlight: Carson Wright – 3 goals in 2 games
Up Next: Nov. 15th @ Portage, Nov. 16th vs Northern Manitoba, Nov. 18th @ Selkirk
6 – Winnipeg Blues (+3)
This week: 1-1
Overall: 6-7-2
Every point matters when trying to chase down teams ahead of you in the standings, and the Blues managed to earn a hard-fought extra point on the road. Couldn’t follow it up the next night, but the team has shown they will not be going quietly on any given night.
Player Spotlight: Campbell Epp – 2 goals, 1 assist in 2 games
Up Next: Nov. 12th @ Selkirk, Nov. 15th vs Waywayseecappo
7 – Swan Valley Stampeders (+3)
This week: 1-0
Overall: 6-8-1
Coming off a bit of a layoff, the Stamps put forth a solid effort and picked up a nice win at home. Did what needed to be done, and got the result. A busy rest of November will test a group that continues to hang around. If they can bank some points, they could climb quickly.
Player Spotlight: Gavin Bartha – 2 goals, 1 assist in 1 game
Up Next: Nov. 12th @ Waywayseecappo, Nov. 14th @ Steinbach, Nov. 15th @ Winkler, Nov. 19th vs Dauphin
8 – Winnipeg Monarchs (+3)
This week: 2-1
Overall: 4-17
Taking some much-needed positive steps while also getting wins is huge for a team that has struggled to put it all together consistently. Coming off a loss, they’ll look to rebound against some very stiff competition from both the MGEU West and East divisions.
Player Spotlight: Braydin Lund – 1 goal, 2 assists in 3 games
Up Next: Nov. 15th vs Steinbach
9- Winkler Flyers (-2)
This week: 0-1-0-1
Overall: 6-9-1-1
Getting better seemingly every game, still struggling to get the results. Big talent up front, combined with defenders that continue to grow, the Flyers are heading in the right direction in a lot of ways, but they’ll need to start putting up wins so they can head in the right way up the standings.
Player Spotlight: Owen Wallace – 2 assists in 2 games
Up Next: Nov. 14th vs Waywayseecappo, Nov. 15th vs Swan Valley, Nov. 18th @ Waywayseecappo
10- Dauphin Kings (-4)
This week: 0-2
Overall: 10-6-1
Scuffling after being one of the hardest teams to score against in the MJHL. The offense has also gone a bit dry, but the Kings have built a reputation on thriving after adversity. Some solid competition and being on the road might be the key to getting the players locked back in.
Player Spotlight: Havryil Simchuk – 1 goal, 2 assists in 2 games
Up Next: Nov. 14th @ Neepawa, Nov. 15th @ Selkirk, Nov. 19th @ Swan Valley
11 – Selkirk Steelers (-3)
This week: 0-2
Overall: 12-7-1
Continuing to be in a rut, the Steelers have struggled to produce anything offensively. A once sure-thing power play has been adjusted to, and now it’s up to the group to find new ways to score. Strong goaltending will keep them in the fight, but for only so long. Very important homestand coming up.
Player Spotlight: Landon Jamieson – 2 goals in 2 games
Up Next: Nov. 12th vs WPG Blues, Nov. 14th vs Northern Manitoba, Nov. 15th vs Dauphin, Nov. 18th vs Virden
12 – Waywayseecappo Wolverines (-)
This week: 0-1
Overall: 7-10-1
Pushed and held one of the top teams in the country, but fell just short. Still finding balance between scoring themselves and giving up scoring chances. A skilled group that knows they have what it takes, but need to find a way to do it consistently if they want to be a legit threat in the MGEU West.
Player Spotlight: Ben Roulette – 1 goal in 1 game
Up Next: Nov. 12th vs Swan Valley, Nov. 14th @ Winkler, Nov. 15th @ WPG Blues, Nov. 18th vs Winkler
13 – Northern Manitoba Blizzard (-)
This week: 0-2-0-1
Overall: 3-11-1-1
Three games in three-night stretches are hard, but having them at home, the Blizzard expected better. Right in every game, the young team will be able to take positives, and despite the slide, they are still within shouting distance of the teams ahead of them. They do another 3 in 3, but this time, on the road.
Player Spotlight: Jett Fogle – 1 goal, 2 assists in 3 games
Up next: Nov 14th @ Selkirk, Nov. 15th @ Niverville, Nov. 16th @ Virden
