Week 14, January 1-4, 2024  |  The Manitoba Junior Hockey League Stars of the Week are proudly presented by Original 16.

Dalton Andrew (FWD/’03) – Winkler Flyers – 3GP | 4G | 5A | 9PTS

The Flyers veteran caught fire to help his team to three straight wins over MGEU East division opponents to kick off the second half. Andrew scored 1 goal and 2 assists against the Freeze before his four point performance that included 3 goals and 1 assist in a big win on home ice against the Nighthawks. The following night in the back-to-back against Niverville, Andrew assisted on the tying goal and the overtime game winner in a comeback victory. The 20-year-old sits third in MJHL scoring with 19 goals and 19 assists in 29 games.

Cole Sheffield (G/’04) – 2GP | 2W | 1.00GAA | 0.964SV% | 1SO

Sheffield and the Kings kicked off 2024 with a pair of wins over two MGEU East division opponents. The 19-year-old earned a 24 save shutout over the Freeze on Friday night before turning aside 30 of 32 shots to close out the week with a 5-2 win over the Steelers on Sunday in Dauphin. In the MJHL, Sheffield sits 3rd in wins (15), 7th in goals against average (2.08), 10th in save percentage (.908), and 4th in minutes played (1381).

Jayce Legaarden (FWD/’04) – Winkler Flyers – 3GP | 2G | 6A | 8PTS

Another member of the high-flying Winkler Flyers earns a star of the week after stringing together three strong performances. After picking up 1 assists in their win over the Freeze, Legaarden added 3 helpers in the Flyers triumph over the Nighthawks before putting together his most impressive performance of the week in the rematch. The native of Grandview, MB, assisted on the second and third goals of the game before scoring the tying goal with 1:20 to play in the 3rd that would send the game into overtime. In the extra frame, Legaarden sniped the winner to complete the comeback and earn his 4th point of the game.
