Original 16 Stars of the Week | Week 3

Week 3, October 2 – 8, 2023  |  The Manitoba Junior Hockey League Stars of the Week are proudly presented by Original 16.

Aiden Anderson (FWD/’05) – Selkirk Steelers – 3GP | 2G | 2A | 4PTS

Anderson added one assist in a tight 3-1 loss to the Pistons before he scored the game winner late in the 3rd period the following night in the rematch against Steinbach. He cashed in on a rebound at the mouth of the goal crease to help Selkirk to a big MGEU East division win. The following night, Anderson added a goal and an assist in a 4-2 loss to the Flyers. After beginning the season without points in three straight, Anderson now has points in four straight.

Elliot Perreault (FWD/’06) – Winnipeg Freeze – 1GP | 2G | 1A | 3PTS

In Perreault’s lone game of the week, the Freeze captain had a big game against the Pistons in what would end up in a 6-5 overtime loss. The 17-year-old cut into the Pistons lead in the second period before adding an assist on the tying goal midway through the third. The Freeze would find themselves down a goal late when he made a slick move in tight from forehand to backhand into the back of the net with under a minute to play that would send the game to extra time.

Parker Scherr (D/’04) – Portage Terriers – 2GP | 4A | 4PTS

The veteran defenceman who is now in his second season with the Terriers had a big second period against the league-leading Flyers, assisting on three goals that would help send the game into extra time and end in a shootout loss. Scherr would add another assist to close out the week in a 3-1 win over the Blizzard, helping his Terriers pick up three of a possible four points.
