Original 16 Stars of the Week | Week 4

Week 4, October 9 – 15, 2023  |  The Manitoba Junior Hockey League Stars of the Week are proudly presented by Original 16.

Leo Chambers (FWD/’03) – Steinbach Pistons – 2GP | 1G | 4A | 5PTS

The Steinbach Pistons earned four points on their Northern road trip over the weekend and their captain, Leo Chambers played a big part in that success. In a 4-3 shootout win over the Blizzard, Chambers added a pair of powerplay assists. The following night in a  6-3 win over Swan Valley, the veteran forward assisted a pair of goals before scoring 45 seconds into the third to complete his three point outing.

Keenan McNeill (FWD/’04) – OCN Blizzard – 2GP | 4G | 4PTS

In a weekend split on home ice, Keenan McNeill helped the Blizzard to 3 of a possible 4 points in the tight MGEU West Division. McNeill opened the scoring 48 seconds into the first period before scoring again, 33 seconds into the third to help bring his team within one. OCN would pick up one point in the shootout loss. The following night against Selkirk, McNeill scored two goals in the second period just under two minutes apart that would give the Blizzard a 4-0 lead that they would hold on to until the end.

Jayce Legaarden (FWD/’04) – Winkler Flyers – 1GP | 1G | 3A | 4PTS

With a 6-0 record on the line, the Winkler Flyers skated into Sunday’s matchup against the Wolverines as the only remaining undefeated team in the MJHL. Second-year forward, Jayce Legaarden assisted on the opening goal before he scored to make it 2-0 Flyers just one minute later. Legaarden also assisted on the fifth and seventh goal of the game in what would end as a 9-0 shutout win. The Flyers earned the #1 ranking in this weeks CJHL Top 20 Rankings.
