Original 16 Stars of the Week | Week 5

Week 5, October 16 – 22, 2023  |  The Manitoba Junior Hockey League Stars of the Week are proudly presented by Original 16.

Grady Hoffman (FWD/’05) – Steinbach Pistons – 2GP | 4G | 2A | 6PTS

Rookie forward, Grady Hoffman was a big contributor to the Pistons success over the weekend, helping his club to a pair of 7-1 victories. On Friday night against their rival Nighthawks, Hoffman opened the scoring with a shorthanded marker in the opening minutes. He would score his second of the game just 27 seconds into the 3rd before notching an assist later in the period. Just like he did on Friday night, Hoffman opened the scoring for the Pistons before adding his second of the night and 8th of the season. Hoffman added another assist to close out the week with 6 points in 2 wins for Steinbach.

Roux Bazin (FWD/’03) – Virden Oil Capitals – 2GP | 4G | 2A | 6PTS

Scoring 20 goals over the course of identical 10-1 wins has the Oil Caps’ leading the league in goals scored (52) heading into the MJHL Showcase. Veteran forward, Roux Bazin was a key part in the offensive onslaught over the weekend. On Friday night, Bazin assisted on the go-ahead goal before scoring a pair early in the 3rd period. On Saturday night, he scored a powerplay marker in the 1st before adding an assist on the opening goal in the 2nd. Bazin closed out the game with a goal late in the 3rd to wrap up a strong weekend for the Oil Caps’.

Naton Miller (FWD/’04) – Virden Oil Capitals – 2GP | 3G | 2A | 5PTS

Much like his teammate Roux Bazin, Naton Miller was a major contributor to the Oil Caps’ attack on Friday and Saturday. Miller assisted on an early goal in the second before scoring his 6th of the season later in the period. On Saturday night, Miller opened the scoring for Virden before adding his second of the night and 8th of the season in the 2nd period. He would go on to assist a late 3rd period goal to help the Oil Caps’ to their second straight 10-1 victory.
