Pistons’ Thiessen named CJHL Gongshow Gear 3rd Star

The CJHL announced that Steinbach Pistons standout goaltender Matt Thiessen has been named 3rd star of its monthly Gongshow Gear awards.

The Pistons goaltender was unbeatable in December going a perfect 7-0-0 for his MJHL-leading team. Still just 17, the Altona native posted a stingy 1.69 goals-against average in the time frame along with a solid .934 save percentage and one shutout.

The rookie netminder leads the MJHL in average at 2.05 as does his .924 save mark while posting a 19-3-0 overall record. He was recently named the MGEU/MJHL Goaltender of the Month in December.

Thiessen recently committed to attend the University of Maine where he will play for the Black Bears.
