Zach Whitecloud, Golden Knights win Stanley Cup

Zach Whitecloud and the Vegas Golden Knights are 2023 Stanley Cup Champions.

The former Virden Oil Capitals standout helped the Golden Knights defeat the Florida Panthers 9-3 in game five of the Stanley Cup Final to down the cats 4-games-to-1 to capture the organizations first championship.

Whitecloud scored in game one of the Final before adding a single assist in games two and four. The native of Sioux Valley Dakota Nation played in all 22 playoff games for the Golden Knights and has played in 61 NHL playoff games in his young career.

The now 26-year-old spent the 2014-15 & 2015-16 seasons in the MJHL with the Virden Oil Capitals where he earned his commitment to play NCAA Division I hockey at Bemidji State University for the Beavers. Whitecloud would suit up for two seasons with Bemidji before signing his first professional contract with the Golden Knights in 2017-18.
