OAKVILLE, ON – Dalton Andrew scored four goals to help lift the Winkler Flyers to a 4-2 win over the Sioux Lookout Bombers in their opening game at the Centennial Cup in Oakville.

The Flyers dominated play in the first period and saw Dalton Andrew score his first of the preliminary round on the powerplay to give the Flyers a 1-0 lead late in the frame.

Winkler continued to press in the second period, but it was the Bombers who struck first in the period on a shot that beat Klassen from the slot.

Just 28 seconds later, Dalton Andrew took a stretch pass from James Richards and wired in his second of the game to give the Flyers a 2-1 lead. The Flyers would get a key penalty kill just a few minutes later and would battle the rest of the period to take a one-goal lead into the third period.

Early in the third, Dalton Andrew completed the hat-trick when he jumped on a rebound at the side of the net to give Winkler a 3-1 lead. The Bombers wouldn’t go away easily as they would score two minutes later to bring them back within one.

Following the midway mark of the 3rd, Andrew added his fourth goal of the night when his shot deflected off a body in front to put the Flyers ahead by a pair.

The Flyers outshot the Bombers, 48-19 and earn an important 3 points in their pool. Next up for the Flyers is a date with the SJHL Champion, Melfort Mustangs on Friday at 11:00 AM CST.
