DAUPHIN, MB – Taye Timmerman turned aside 19 shots while the Northern Manitoba Blizzard received goals from four different skaters on their way to a 4-0 shutout win over the Dauphin Kings in game one of the McMunn & Yates Turnbull Cup Final.

It was an energy filled first period as both teams traded chances, exchanging nine shots aside. Just after the midway mark of the period, Louis-Jacob Beauregard found Jack Linton open in front and beat Cole Sheffield to put the Blizzard up by one after one.

After the Blizzard killed off an early penalty in the second, they would capitalize off of a draw. Esteban Cinq-Mars would blast a shot from the point in past Sheffield to give the Blizzard a 2-0 lead. The Blizzard would hold on to momentum going into the third period up by a pair, outshooting the Kings, 8-4 in the period.

It was the Blizzard who would continue to make the most of their opportunities in the third period. Just moments before the midway mark, Quincy Supprien flew down the wing and cut to the net before chipping the puck to the top corner, giving the Blizzard a 3-0 lead.

At 12:25 of the third, Louis-Jacob Beauregard jammed in a rebound at the mouth of the crease that would give the Blizzard a commanding 4-0 lead and they wouldn’t look back.

The Blizzard outshot the Kings, 30-19 and went 0/3 on the powerplay while the Kings went 0/2. Game two is set for Sunday night in The Pas at 7:00 inside the Roy H. Johnston Arena.
