Freeze select Noah Oughton 1st overall

WINNIPEG, MB – With the first pick in the 2023 MJHL Draft, the Winnipeg Freeze have selected Noah Oughton.

Oughton, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound forward from St. Laurent Manitoba suited up in 44 games for the U18AAA Interlake Lightning where he scored 10 goals and 14 assists.

“In Noah’s case the person absolutely makes the player. He is an outstanding young man, mature beyond his years, ambitious, focused and determined to be a hockey player,” shared Freeze Head Coach and General Manager, Jay Pylypiuk.

“Noah is a big body who uses his size very well, he also possesses a great skillset, hockey IQ and grit that give him the ability to make plays in tight spaces and under pressure, something happens every time he touches the puck. He will be a great addition to the Freeze and be a big piece moving forward as we build the program,” concluded Pylypiuk.
