Kings, Oil Capitals, Titans, and Wolverines win on Saturday

KINGS DOWN PISTONS TO EARN POINTS IN FIVE STRAIGHT
Dauphin Kings 3, Steinbach Pistons 2

Steinbach, MB – Brody Green’s third-period winner against his former team capped a three-point performance Saturday night as the Dauphin Kings defeated the Steinbach Pistons, 3-2 at the Southeast Event Centre.

Quinten Fisk provided the early offence, striking on the power play for his seventh of the season before Steinbach’s Rohan Guevarra answered on the man advantage at 9:11. Fisk wasted little time restoring Dauphin’s lead, notching his second of the night and eighth of the season at 10:25.

The Kings carried that 2-1 advantage into the second period, only to see Griffin Krone’s late power-play goal pull the Pistons even heading into the third.

With under six to play in the third, Brody Green scored his sixth of the season which stood to be the game winner as the Kings would hold on and win to pick up points in five straight contests. 16-year-old, Tate Barnaby was excellent in the Kings net, making 33 saves in the win.


TITANS SNAP LOSING SKID IN WIN OVER BLIZZARD
Neepawa Titans 4, Northern Manitoba Blizzard 1

Neepawa, MB – Conner Nicholson’s 35-save performance helped the Neepawa Titans snap a six-game losing skid in a 4-1 win over Northern Manitoba on Saturday night.

After a scoreless first period, Kole Beard and Eric Marks gave the Titans a 2-0 lead in the second before a late powerplay goal from Brady Green brought the Blizzard back within one heading into the third.

In the late stages of the period, Roan Michalchuk’s first of the season would give the Titans the insurance they needed to go along with an empty netter from Eric Marks for his second of the night.


OIL CAPITALS ROLL TO SIXTH STRAIGHT VICTORY 
Virden Oil Capitals 6, Winnipeg Blues 1

Virden, MB – The Virden Oil Capitals earned contributions from six different skaters, outshooting the Winnipeg Blues, 55-24 on their way to a sixth straight win.

It didn’t take long for Virden to get rolling as Tyson Ulmer, Tyson Draper, and Ragnar Gillis scored in a five minute span starting in the opening 26 seconds of the game with Ulmer’s second of the year.

Peyton Getzlaff’s powerplay marker would extend the Oil Capitals lead in the second period as Virden would head into the third with a four-goal lead.

Cole Dupuis and Miguel Bonin would add to the Oil Capitals lead in the opening five minutes of the period to make it a 6-0 lead. Jaxin Karst would break the shutout and score on the powerplay for the Blues but that would be all as Virden would take the win on h


WOLVERINES BOUNCE BACK AGAINST MONARCHS
Waywayseeccappo Wolverines 7, Winnipeg Monarchs 2

Waywayseecappo, MB – The Waywayseecappo Wolverines bounced back on home ice Saturday night, picking up a 7-2 win to split their weekend series with the Monarchs.

Dylan Duzan opened the scoring for the Wolverines early in the first before Adam Chipelski added to their lead with under six to play in the first. Idris Alameddine scored late for the Monarchs to cut their deficit in half heading into the second.

It was all Wolverines in the second, outshooting the Monarchs 18-3, which saw Hudson Davidson, Cale Livingston, and Treycen Wuttunee scored in a five minute span to take a 5-1 lead in the third period.

Max Collyer and Blake Farthing gave Waywayseecappo a 7-1 lead in the third before Carter Kingerski would answer late for the Monarchs. That would be all as the Wolverines would outshoot the Monarchs, 49-18.
