MJHL Alumni Feature: Andre, Kingerski & Hirst

In the coming weeks, mjhlhockey.ca will feature several MJHL alumni who are thriving in the WHL, NCAA and USPORTS levels. This week, the spotlight continues to shine on MJHL Alumni in the WHL as we take a look at our last three players in the western league: Alex Andre, Carter Kingerski, and Benson Hirst.

Alex Andre | Wenatchee Wild
MJHL | Northern Manitoba Blizzard (2024-25)
17-Years-Old | Forward

Andre stepped into the Blizzard lineup last season and made an immediate impact on and off the ice as a 16-year-old. The Winnipeg native scored 2 goals and 22 assists, playing in all 58 regular season games before contributing in the Turnbull Cup Playoffs, registering 3 goals and 6 helpers in 16 games on the way to helping Northern Manitoba hoist the Turnbull Cup. Andre was also named the Blizzard’s RBC Community Ambassador for his commitment to giving back in the local community.

This season, Andre made the jumped to the Western Hockey League where he has found his footing with the Wild, scoring 1 goal and 4 assists in 38 games as he continues to build confidence and develop at the next level. Photo: Wenatchee Wild

Carter Kingerski | Tri-City Americans
MJHL | Winnipeg Freeze (2024-25)
17-Years-Old | Forward

Kingerski is another MJHL alumni who stepped into the WHL after his 16-year-old year last season with the Winnipeg Freeze (Monarchs). The forward was a big presence for the young Winnipeg team where he scored 12 goals and 18 assists in 46 games of regular season action.

Hailing from Headingley, Manitoba, Kingerski earned his first taste of WHL action in 2024-25 where he played 1 game as a call up before earning a full time spot up front with the Tri-City Americans this season where he has added 2 goals and 6 assists in 29 games thus far. Benson Hirst | Moose Jaw Warriors
MJHL | Northern Manitoba Blizzard (2024-25)
17-Years-Old | Forward
NCAA Commitment: Northern Michigan University

Last but not least is another member of the 2024-25 Turnbull Cup Championship team in Benson Hirst who joined the Blizzard midway through last season and made an impact at 16. Hirst suited up in 21 regular season games for the Blizzard where he added 5 goals and 5 assists before scoring 2 goals in 12 post season games.

In June of 2025, Hirst announced his commitment to play NCAA Division 1 hockey for Northern Michigan University before he made the jump to the Western Hockey League and made the Moose Jaw Warriors opening night roster.
