MJHL Season Preview | Waywayseecappo Wolverines

Story by Dave Anthony

Players have made their way to town, exhibition games are well underway and coaches are optimistic with sights set high, it’s time to start the new season!

We asked each head coach a number of questions as they prepare for the season and here’s what they had to say!

Waywayseecappo Wolverines: 2020/21 (7-3-0-0)

Leading scorers: Mackenzie Belinski (9g, 7ast for 16pts), Conrad Philips (8g, 3ast for 11pts)

Key graduating players: Mackenzie Belinski, Conrad Philips, Gerrik Ripley

Season outlook: The Wolverines were on fire before the league shut down. They have been a franchise on the rise for a number of years and really looked poised to be a team that could have made it all the way to the MJHL finals. The Wolverines will hope that the work people have put in will help in the recruiting of players that can come in and make a difference. It feels like the division is going to be a battle every night and teams won’t be taking the Wolverines lightly. In fact, I think a lot of teams may view them as a top contender that can make a statement against. They have the pieces returning that can still get fans excited and if they come out strong like they did in 2020, things will get very, very interesting.
